Born in Atlanta, Georgia, raised in Boulder, Colorado, spending summers in Kentucky - playing outside as much as possible - is how I spent my youth. After spending two and a half weeks on a sailboat in the Caribbean, I knew marine biology was my calling.
I attended Roger Williams University and received a B.A. in Marine Biology and a minor in economics. After graduating I took an intern position with the Narragansett Bay Estuary Program (NBEP) as a summer research intern where I assisted the chief scientist in monitoring the Narragansett Bay. After a year of contract work with the program, I became a full time employee. My experience there was wide ranging, earning me the nickname "the Swiss army knife of the program". While working with NBEP, I began helping the Association of National Estuary Programs (ANEP) as an administrative assistant.
My passion is educating the public about the importance of our natural resources and protection of our open spaces and healthy waters. I have my ASA sailing license and advanced open water SCUBA certificate, but have surprisingly few opportunities to use them.
